Egypt has bought wheat from Romania and Russia

GASC has selected the winners of previously announced tender for shipping of the wheat.

Out of the wide selection of grain – US wheat, Russian and Ukrainian wheat an Australian wheat GASC has chosen the Russian. In total 180,000 tonnes will be shipped in the first half of September.

For the next batch of competitors – Canadian, French, German, Argentine, Polish, Kazakh, Romanian, Bulgarian, Hungarian and Paraguayan GASC chose to buy Romanian wheat. 60,000 tonnes of Romanian wheat will enter the seaports of Egypt in the beginning of September.

Here are the winners:

  • 60,000 tonnes Romanian [Ameropa] $238.22 FOB plus $15.34 shipping costs which is $253.56 a tonne c&f
  • 60,000 tonnes Russian [Aston] $235.50 FOB plus $16.46 shipping costs which is $251.96 a tonne c&f
  • 60,000 tonnes Russian [GTCS] $238.00 FOB plus $16.46 shipping costs which is $254.46 c&f
  • 60,000 tonnes Russian [Posco Daewoo] $238.25 FOB plus $15.00 shipping costs which is $253.25 a tonne c&f.

The selection process was based on the strict standards of wheat quality and the price proposed.
