ISIS, more known as ‘Daesh’ in Arabic countries, has announced the death of one of their regional leaders. The message was broadcasted on one of the Telegram-channels reliably associated with the Daesh terror organization.
It states that Abu Jaafar al-Maqdes, the leader of the Northern Sinai ISIS cell in the border town of Sheikh Zuweid has joined ‘the caravan of martyrs’. In a plain language it means that he was killed by security forces of Egypt. Egyptian army and police are performing special operation in the Northern Sinai. The troubled peninsula has became a breeding ground for the ISIS as local smugglers and crime gangs have taken an oath of compliance with the Daesh. Several hundred of terrorists were killed by the Egyptian forces since the acute stage of the campaign started in February 2018.
